Volunteer

Vaisnavas C.A.R.E., Inc. (Counseling, Assistance, Resource, and Education for Terminally ill Patients and Their Family), a non-profit organization started in 2001, is a network of volunteer devotees of Lord Krishna, providing emotional and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Vaisnavas C.A.R.E., Inc. serves our worldwide community of devotees through education, website support, personal correspondence, and volunteer assistance (where Care Teams are available). It is important to note that Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. is not a hospice agency. We encourage anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness to seek the advice, medical assistance, and other services available from a local licensed hospice. Our goal is to assist ISKCON temples and devotee communities to develop Care Teams in “every town and village” so members of our Krsna consciousness movement and their loved ones receive additional emotional and spiritual support when diagnosed with a terminal illness, or are acutely or chronically ill.

Ways in which you can volunteer:

Start a Care Team

CARE Team Volunteers provide emotional and spiritual support to temple devotees and congregational members within their own communities who are experiencing an acute (short-term) illness, a long-term chronic disease, or a terminal illness requiring end-of-life care. In addition Care Team volunteers try to meet the practical needs of the patient and family such as cooking meals, running errands, etc.

Prayer Partner Volunteer

Whenever someone posts a new prayer for someone in need of emotional or spiritual support, our prayer partners kindly send in their prayers and words of inspiration. This service usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes per week (if there are new prayers posted). This is a service that is very much appreciated by families worldwide.

Volunteer Fundraiser

Services for approved Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. fundraisers include:

Directing potential donors to our donation page and/or giving potential donors a copy of our authorized Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. Donation Form to be directly mailed by the donor to Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. Inc.

Posting Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. flyers and brochures at temples/communities to raise awareness of our services.

Srila Prabhupada states in the Teachings of Lord Kapila, (purport of Ch 17, Text 41) "We should not try to become direct servants [of Krsna], for that is not possible. First of all we must become the servant of the servant."

Many temples and communities worldwide have already sponsored a V-C.A.R.E. educational seminar. Our seminars are always well attended and appreciated. We can schedule the seminar around the needs of your community.
