Hare Krsna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I would like to offer a cautionary note regarding soy products. Your website has touted their value, but if you are susceptible to kidney stones, soy products may be very dangerous for you. They are all very high in oxalate content. Oxalate is a substance that is not utilized by the body through digestion, but typically binds with calcium in the intestines. If there's not enough calcium, or there's too much oxalate, it goes into the kidneys to be exreted.

In any case, oxalate binds with calcium in the kidneys to form the most common type of kidney stones. I had removed almost all milk products from my diet to avoid allergies, and at the same time was eating alot of soy. I developed kidney stones. I suffered from them for over a year. My urologist wrongly diagnosed "chronic prostatitis", until I ended up in the emergency room with a kidney stone attack.

I passed a stone, I have cut soy out of my diet, and I take lowfat yogurt nearly every day, in order to get the calcium I need. Yogurt doesn't seem to trigger my allergies. I've noticed another benefit, too - the irritable bowel symptoms I had experienced for years have vanished. I suspect that soy might have been causing me some digestive problems. I just never looked closely at it, having been brainwashed by the popular vegetarian culture regarding soy.

I offer my story in brief as a caution against our unconditional embrace of soy products. Even if people want soy in their diets, it should probably be eaten in small amounts, in moderation, as seen in the traditional diets of the orient. Instead, we want to eat 'tofu sandwiches', or great slabs of soy. In my case, this was unhealthy, and I suspect that such dietary habits may adversely affect the health of others as well.

Hare Krsna, Prabhus

During the colder, winter months I experienced severe back pain caused by
inflammation of the nerves in the spinal cord. My Godbrother, Caitanya Jivan
Prabhu, suggested an Ayurvedic mixture made into a warm compress that helps with
inflammation. It is made from a mixture of shredded fresh ginger root and warm
(not hot) mustard seed oil. The warm mixture was wrapped in paper towels and
placed on the area of pain for as long as it remained warm (approx. 15 mins. We
placed a cotton towel over the bundle of warm oil and ginger root to keep it
warmer for a longer time).

It worked great--by Krsna's grace. I just wanted to pass on this tip (used often
in India) for a simple, anti-inflammatory. Resting the painful area helps as
well. We hope it works for you or someone you know. Any other suggestions for
inflammation of muscles?

Your servant,
Sangita

Hare Krishna dear prabhu.

PAMHO AGTSP

I just received the book: THE FINAL JOURNEY.

I would like to know why we use morphine when a person is at the end. I understand that this time is very painful but we have to be conscious if we want to think to Krsna and go back home. The last thoughts have to be for Krsna.

Can you give me some information about that?

Thank you.
