Srila Prabhupada chanting japa

Five hundred years ago, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the most merciful incanation of Lord Krsna, brought to this world the gift of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. The chanting of this sixteen word mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is the prescribed method for self-realization in this present age of Kali-yuga (quarrel and disturbance). For those in the Vaisnava tradition, the chanting and hearing of this mantra is essential during one’s life and at the time of one’s departure from this world. Any person who is fortunate enough to hear this mantra at the time of passing away, will receive unlimited blessings from the Lord.
