We are pleased that you have joined us to enhance your knowledge of end-of-life care issues. We hope that our course material will assist you in helping a loved one in need in your community, if and when the situation arises.
Objectives for the Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. online basic course are:
- To explore you own attitudes about death, loss and terminal illness
- To identify feelings and behavior associated with the dying and grieving processes
- To understand basic hospice concepts including the use of a Living Will/Advance Directives
- To develop skills in communication (e.g., listening, supporting)
- To develop an understanding of when it is necessary/appropriate to alert members of the hospice agency employed by the patient/family
- To identify “spiritual pain” and ways to assist patients/families
- To develop skills in bereavement support and follow-up emotional and spiritual care
